We have heard for years the negative effects sugar has on our body, but sweeteners are an entirely different thing. We are one of the first generations to feel the full effects of what artificial sweeteners are doing to us and our children. Bottom line, if you great grandmother didn’t consume it you probably don’t need to if you value your health.
Get Fit! Stay Fit!
There are so many easy and fun ways to get fit! You don’t have to be a star athlete to run three times a week for 20 minutes each time. Nor do you have to be an Olympic gymnast to be flexible or participate in a weekly yoga class. Dancing is another way to get fit, it’s inexpensive and a fun and creative way to socialize! If you like the outdoors, blade, ride a bike, hike and spend some time with nature while you’re at it! If you’re not partial to the outdoors, pack a bag and get to the gym where you can walk on a treadmill with a high incline or pedal a bike with major resistance. You’ll also get the opportunity to slip on your ipod and listen to some cool beats! You can also buy DVDs and books and mags that feature pre-made fitness routines. If you’re competitive and enjoy the rush of competing, sign up to play on a sports team such as volleyball, basketball, tennis or soccer. To get in shape, all it takes is a half hour everyday or a full hour 3 to 4 times a week … and the payback is huge! A stronger, more fit and toned body, a clear mind that is less stressed, tonnes more energy and better health overall! So don’t just think about it … get off your booty … and Get Fit! NOW!!
Walk whenever and wherever you can! Make it brisk!
Wake up and perform a ten minute stretch or ten minutes of yoga.
Pop on your favourite CD and do five minutes of ab exercises, mix them up!
Climb those stairs instead of using the elevator!
Squeeze in 10 push ups whenever, wherever you can!
Jump rope, great cardio and fat burning!
Buy 5 pound dumbbells and create your own muscle conditioning routine to do every other day.
Grab your girlfriends and go dancing over the weekend! Dress to kill!
Go for a swim!
Sign up for a 5K race.
Do martial arts.
Getting fit and staying fit is smart, sexy, tonnes of fun, and always in style! :0)

Fitness Instruction is Fun and Exciting!
The role of a Fitness Instructor Specialist has evolved far beyond being a basic “aerobic instructor”. As a group exercise expert, you will assist club members in a fun and motivating setting. A qualified Fitness Instructor Specialist can lead groups in various formats of cardiovascular conditioning, muscle strength and endurance training, stretching and relaxation, or a calming cool-down. A Can-Fit-Pro certified FIS is knowledgeable about different types of music, understands how to use music in a group setting, keeps current on the latest fitness trends and is able to give generalized advice about healthy living and proper nutrition.
The Fitness Instructor Specialist Course
This is a comprehensive 25-hour course that will increase your knowledge and confidence level to lead a group fitness class to music.
Topics include:
- Aspects of fitness, wellness and basic training principles
- Fitness theory: skeletal, muscular, neurological, cardiovascular and pulmonary systems
- Kinesiology/anatomy in action and bioenergetics
- Components of a fitness class from the warm-up to the cool-down
- Musicality: phrasing, cueing and appropriate music selection
- Leadership and motivation skills
- Special populations and injuries

Tell us a bit about yourself: the true Diva.
I graduated from the Ontario College of Art & Design in 2007 and I am currently working on my Masters in Fine Arts at Concordia University in Montreal. I have been drawing, painting and dancing ever since I was little and being an Artist is the one thing that makes me feel complete!
How did you get into teaching dance/fitness? Tell us about your experiences in the industry.
I began participating in dance and fitness classes when I was a little girl. I never really enjoyed many sports but I always loved to dance, mostly because of the music! I began taking belly dance classes at the age of 18, thanks to my aunt and mom. I have studied various styles of belly dance and I am constantly pushing myself to learn and grow as a Dancer, Instructor and Performer.
Why did you decide join DivaGirl?
I was looking to be a part of a community which understood the importance of fitness, but more importantly one that focused on women.
Tell us a bit about the classes/workshops that you offer to the DivaGirl Community.
I offer a wide selection of belly dance and sexy dance grooves classes and various workshops featuring various instructors from Montreal and Toronto.
Why should women attend your DivaGirl classes/workshops?
DivaGirl Fitness classes are great for women you are tired of the typical fitness class and are looking for something fun and exciting! The combination of dance and fitness keeps things fresh and challenging.
What constitutes you as a Diva?
When you think of the word “diva,” you usually think of a woman with an attitude or one who is obsessed with their appearance. I would rather redefine the term to describe a woman who is strong and confident in who she is. As a teacher, artist and woman I try my best to demonstrate that strength equals beauty.
What are your top three tips to help women get fit, have fun and feel sexy?
§ Try out new classes to stay motivated and prevent yourself from becoming bored!
§ Make yourself a priority!
§ Focusing on being strong and confident is the key to feeling sexy.

iPower Fitness Studio is located in a prime location in Brampton Rd. facing Airport Rd. between Bovaird and Queen St. There is approximately 1000 sq feet of open floor space. It is a fully equipped fitness studio exclusively for women, very bright with wall-to-wall mirrors. Can be used for dance classes, fitness classes or personal training.
